ReConstructed: Underpinned by an investigation of reality and architectural representation through photography, ‘ReConstructed’ is an exploration of architectural spaces that aims to provide new ways to view and experience the built environment. It goes against conventional architectural photography to provide a multidimensional view of not only architecture but also the ‘reality’ it inhabits.
Combining still images and moving cinemagraphs, it presents constructed spaces, which invite the viewer to experience an alternate photographic reality of architecture. The work presents places that exists but at the same time they do not, except in our memories. The images, constructed from parts of the whole, are purposely left unfinished and disjointed but whole enough for us to recognise, just as different views and perspectives can be reassembled in our minds to create a whole picture of a building for our memories. The result is an experience where the images themselves become architectural constructions and it is through this process that viewers are invited to re-examine both their knowledge and experience of architecture.
